What is your Union Packaging's mission or values statement?

Union Packaging is a certified MBE & Veteran-owned maker of FDA compliant, earth-friendly folding cartons. We offer our customers the best price-to-performance ratio in the industry. We are committed to helping our customers, team members, suppliers, and community achieve their goals.

If you look at philanthropy as social currency - contributing not only dollars but time and talent, what does your company do to contribute to philanthropy and corporate social responsibility?

Union Packaging emphasizes diverse, non-traditional employment practices through partnerships with nonprofit organizations that are adept at identifying excellent candidates. With these organizations acting as pipelines, we have hired dozens of employees with disabilities, learning differences, and other barriers to traditional employment. These partnerships give us the power to offer the right opportunities to potential employees who are willing to learn, and excited about getting back into the workforce.

Our Core Values:

  • Offer compensation with benefits like health and dental insurance, and profit sharing when possible.
  • Foster a work environment that doesn’t judge and welcomes diversity of all kinds.
  • Provide a workspace that is accessible and pair that with policies that are sensitive to transportation challenges.
  • Never compromise on matters that allow us to operate with efficiency and accountability.

Why is it important to your company to give back?

In our 20+ years of operation, Union Packaging has been dedicated to community stewardship, but we cannot lose sight of the fact our community is still faced with dramatic economic disparities and discrimination. As a team, we derive satisfaction from combating these issues. We feel good when we do good and have gained matchless rewards from giving back. Our ambition is to meet real community needs with the triple bottom line: profit, people, and the planet.

What’re 3 organizations or causes people should know about in 2019?

What advice would you give to a company who wants to make a difference, but isn’t sure where to start?

Carefully identify opportunities for partnership with reliable and reputable nonprofits whose mission overlaps with your work and charitable goals. These collaborations generate excitement for all stakeholders--the customer, shareholders, and employees, and can help you have a profound impact on your community.
